In an act of recognition for the trans community as part of Trans Visibility Day, the Honorable City Council of Puerto Vallarta approved the proposal of the Vallarta Diversity Network, presented by councilor Luis Escoto, to paint the outline of the pedestrian crossing on Morelos Street, at the intersection with Zaragoza, from the Malecón to the Plaza de Armas, with the colors of the trans flag.

This action will take place on March 31, within the framework of the International Trans Visibility Day, with the aim of strengthening the municipality’s commitment to inclusion and respect for gender identity.

The initiative seeks to promote and raise awareness about the rights of trans people without altering the lines of the pedestrian crossing, guaranteeing its functionality and road safety.

Recognition of trans identity is supported by international human rights treaties, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

With this action, Puerto Vallarta reaffirms its commitment to diversity and equality, sending a clear message of support and recognition to the trans community in an emblematic space of the city.
