Vallarta Gay + Community Center hosted its first meeting of sexual health and disease prevention promoters in Puerto Vallarta on Oct. 15, 2024.
Held at the facilities of the Vallarta Gay + Community Center, welcomed by Director Pedro Lopez and Administrator Tina Kunkel. This session was convened by Alfredo Soria representing Vallarta Pride. There were also attendees from the private sexual health sector such as PrEP Vallarta with Dr. Galileo Vargas and Vallarta Gay Clinic with Dr. Miguel Buenrostro, from the government sector with COMUSIDA with Leticia Lopez Moreno and Gadiel Arat Ochoa, and from civil society with Everardo Galván Magdaleno from Incluy A.C.
The purpose of the meeting was to generate collaboration to generate actions in favor of the community for the celebration of the next Vallarta Pride 2025. The main activity that is sought to be carried out is to promote sexual health and disease prevention through rapid tests for sexually transmitted infections, with the rapid HIV test being the most prominent.
The combined efforts of all these participants will allow us to raise awareness among our local and tourist population about prevention, a full and healthy sexual life, as well as bringing us closer to the goal of ending the HIV epidemic as a target for 2030.
