The Bistro at Mercurio, nestled within the heart of Hotel Mercurio, is now hosting live music every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., letting your taste buds dance to the rhythm of the evening.
Paul Crist, a long time Puerto Vallarta resident and owner of Hotel Mercurio, was a supporter and aficionado of Incanto, the former entertainment venue which closed its doors in late October of 2023.
With the closure, many talented performers were put out of work immediately, and their future prospects were bleak. This sad ending brought a new beginning, as the concept for live music at the Bistro at Mercurio inside Hotel Mercurio was born.
Paul reflected on the new adventure with emotion in his voice, “I love this community, and I wanted to see if I could provide amazing entertainment that would showcase the incredible talent present here in Puerto Vallarta.”
So every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. great performers bring a variety of music to life, as guests enjoy awesome drink and menu offerings.
The first act runs from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with the second act from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There is no cover charge, and Happy Hour pricing runs from 3 to 8 p.m.
I visited on a recent Thursday evening, and enjoyed music set in the intimately tropical patio space centered around a beautiful pool.
“I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” was being sung with lyrics unique to a Puerto Vallarta vacation. Well known Puerto Vallarta entertainer Nick Rogers, of Act2PV fame, gave it his all, as did another PV favorite, Zoe Lewis, who was performing the very next day at The Palm Cabaret and Bar.
On Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, enjoy Alison Lo and Hugo Ramos. Just two examples of the diverse talent that is highlighted each week, with unique performers making every Thursday evening a night to remember.
The food at Bistro Mercurio is legendary, and many guests, all dining alfresco, were enjoying the special of the week, the Spaghetti Frutti de Mare. It pairs splendidly with a glass of red or white wine of your choice, all for 280 pesos.
Extremely popular any night of the week at Bistro Mercurio, are the awesome pizza options available. I asked Paul which pizza is his fave. He readily offered that he loves the Shrimp Pizza, which is listed on the menu in Spanish, as the Pizza de Camaron.
He smiled as he mentioned another favorite offering from the expansive menu, The Red Snapper filet, aka The Filete de Huachinango al Gusto, which is flavored with aromatic garlic and herbs. It is utterly fabulous, and priced at $350 pesos for a grande portion, and $190 pesos for the chica portion.
As the evening came to a close, and the abundant applause ended, I knew I would return soon to enjoy another Thursday afternoon of incredible entertainment at the Bistro Mercurio in Hotel Mercurio, by the pool and under the beautiful sky of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
