Authorities will provide alternative routes and close intersections to prevent vehicle access along the race course.
Due to the Downhill Puerto Vallarta cycling event taking place this Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, the Municipal Government has announced road closures in downtown Puerto Vallarta. The course will run along Aldama Street, from the upper part of the city down to the Malecón.
The closures will be in effect from 2:30 PM to 8:00 PM on the following streets:
- Emilio Carranza and Aldama (heading toward the Malecón).
- Juárez and Morelos streets.
Traffic Diversions
- Northbound: A total closure will be implemented on Juárez and Hidalgo streets. Traffic will be diverted at Galeana to head down Morelos, eventually exiting toward the Libramiento (Bypass) and the tunnel.
- Southbound: Traffic on Morelos will be closed at Abasolo. Drivers must turn back north on Abasolo, take Juárez, and continue until reaching Colombia Street.
Control Points
Closures will also occur at the intersections of Abasolo, Corona, and Galeana. While these are not part of the race course itself, they will serve as checkpoints to prevent vehicles from crossing onto the event route on Aldama.
Alternative Routes
To navigate the area, the following streets remain available:
| Direction | Recommended Streets |
|---|---|
| Southbound | Morelos (from Galeana), Ignacio L. Vallarta, Insurgentes, Lázaro Cárdenas, and Basilio Badillo. |
| Northbound | Colombia, Perú, and Brasil. |
Citizens are advised to take precautions, depart early, and respect all posted traffic signs.
