Two Puerto Vallarta restaurants have been added to the 2026 selection of the MICHELIN Guide, marking the first time the city has earned recognition from one of the world’s most influential culinary authorities.
The guide announced that ICÚ and Pancho’s Takos, both located in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romántica, were included in the 2026 Mexico selection. The recognition comes two years after the MICHELIN Guide, one of the world’s most prestigious travel and culinary references, launched in Mexico and represents a milestone for Puerto Vallarta’s growing reputation as a dining destination.
ICÚ Restaurant
Led by Chef Mauricio Leal, ICÚ offers an elevated take on Mexican cuisine, blending traditional flavors with modern culinary techniques through both à la carte and tasting menus. Leal had previously worked at Café des Artistes, another renowned local restaurant, and graduated from the prestigious Gregoire Ferrandi institute in Paris. ICÚ is located at Venustiano Carranza 210, less than a block from Lázaro Cárdenas Park. Over the years, ICÚ has racked up numerous accolades, including spots in the Guía México Gastronómico (2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024), TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice, and the Food & Travel Reader’s Award in 2019.

Pancho’s Takos
On the flip side of the culinary spectrum, Pancho’s Takos has cemented its status as one of the most popular spots for charcoal-grilled tacos al pastor in the Romantic Zone. Operating as a lively sidewalk eatery on one of the area’s main thoroughfares (Basilio Badillo 162), this local staple opened its doors in 1989. Over the last decade, its popularity has skyrocketed; because indoor seating is highly limited, loyal patrons and eager tourists are regularly seen lining up down the block just to get a taste.
