The Puerto Vallarta Municipal Government added 35 new patrol cars to its police force on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in an effort to strengthen local surveillance and better protect both residents and visitors.
Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguia Gonzalez led the handover ceremony, noting that the investment bolsters security and honors the work of municipal police officers.
The municipality purchased 30 of the vehicles using funds from the 2026 federal municipal strengthening fund, known as FORTAMUN. The government of the state of Jalisco loaned the remaining five vehicles, a gesture of support that Luis Munguia acknowledged with thanks to Governor Pablo Lemus.
During the event, Munguia praised the dedication of the municipal police force and emphasized that the new fleet reflects a commitment to public safety. He also highlighted specialized security measures, including a “green patrol” car dedicated to animal care and protection, and a “purple patrol” car specialized in assisting and protecting women.
Dr. Eduardo Horacio Llanas Cuevas, the municipal security commissioner, thanked the mayor on behalf of the department. With these actions, the municipal government reaffirms its commitment to building a safer Puerto Vallarta for everyone.
