Edgar Sanchez, Alberto Cuevas and Vilchis Joya bring drag, laughter and music to ACT2PV’s stage
Deceived Women brings to life three female characters facing some problems due to black magic. This fun show is a parody of telenovelas and features popular Mexican celebrities as characters.
Written by Edgar Sánchez, Vilchis Joya, and Alberto Cuevas, and produced collectively.
“I thought it would be fun to bring together the Spanish diva; Miss Bibi (a drag character I play),” explained Edgar Sánchez. “Alberto Cuevas plays the Mexican telenovela diva; Verónica Castro, and finally Vilchis Joya plays Laura León, a famous Mexican telenovela singer and actress (who also has a very popular talk show).
The “macumba” (black magic) that has cursed Miss Bibi and Verónica Castro leads them to seek help by attending Mrs. León’s talk show. Will Mrs. León be able to solve the mystery of the macumbas?
The show is in a cabaret theater format at Act2PV, with a variety of music, drag, lip-sync, and comedy. The show is in Spanish and lasts for one hour, 40 minutes.
About the cast:
Miss Bibi (a drag character in the Mexican Republic): Played by Edgar Sánchez (@soyedgarsanchez), who is also a producer, television host, and cabaret theater actor with more than 25 years of experience. Sánchez has worked with characters in the entertainment industry such as La supermana, La prohibida, Oswaldo Calderón, and Luis Miguelez. He has produced shows for ACT2PV including The Cher Show, Madonnarama, and Swan Lake.
Verónica Castro (Mexican telenovela diva Verónica Castro): Portrayed by singer and entertainer Alberto Cuevas (@albertocuevas_eldiamante), known as “El Diamante”. Cuevas is a Mexican singer who has been delighting his audience with the best of traditional Mexican music for more than 18 years. He has performed nationally and appeared on La Voz. He has has two singles, “Te Amare” and “Ataud” that he has recorded, available on various music streaming platforms.
Mrs. Laura León (a famous Mexican singer and soap opera actress): Played by the talented Vilchis Joya (@lavilchisjoya), who is a local actor, make-up artist and drag performer. In 2017 she starred in the successful web soap opera from Vallarta, “Dulce Vengeance.”
