Local entrepreneur and LGBTQ+ community member Carlos Plascencia is entering a new chapter in his business career by formally announcing the closure of his venue, Aloha Bar, to launch a new concept titled “Malas Decisiones” (Bad Decisions). The bar will officially open its doors to the public on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Located at the same site as Aloha Bar—within Plaza Romy (Ignacio L. Vallarta 228) in the Zona Romántica—Malas Decisiones introduces a more mature and intimate proposal. The concept is inspired by those life events we might regret but which carry important lessons. It is designed as a space to close cycles and turn the page, accompanied by great music, delicious drinks, and food.
“After 7 years, I have changed, and I felt this transformation was inevitable,” mentioned the owner in an interview. He invites the Vallarta community to discover his new project, where everyone is welcome. The venue has undergone a complete makeover, featuring a more sober interior design and decor in black tones.
Accompanied by his partner and associate, Natán Cervantes, and amidst the final remodeling tasks, Plascencia explained that Malas Decisiones will also serve as a safe space to discuss mental health.
“We are going to have community workshops. We have an agreement with the Puerto Vallarta College of Psychologists to create non-judgmental spaces for conversation and offer support to our community members and clients who may need it,” he explained. This type of work is nothing new for Carlos, as the entrepreneur has consistently demonstrated his commitment to society, also serving as the director of the City Government’s Office of Sexual Diversity.
The bar will offer a full menu of liter-sized cocktails, spirits, shots, and non-alcoholic options, as well as innovative flavored “raspados” (shaved ice) with tequila or vodka. Food options will include a variety of snacks, arrachera and seafood tacos, tostadas, and aguachiles.
