American Airlines is now connecting Puerto Vallarta with the North Carolina capital, Charlotte , an important hub for the airline on the East Coast of the United States.

With this new destination, there are already five cities linked by the airline from the American Union to the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. In the month of December, American Airlines will be operating a total of 210 flights from the cities of: Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix and now also Charlotte.

The connection opens the possibility to Puerto Vallarta of bringing more customers from the East Coast, where American Airlines also has a presence through hubs in: Miami, New York JFK, Philadelphia and Boston . It should be noted that in 2019 American Airlines was the airline that transported the most passengers to the destination with 541,820 people.

The inaugural flight from Charlotte arrived with 102 passengers, it was received with the traditional welcome jet and a small group of welcome to the destination to reflect the hospitality of this port with its visitors.

The return of the Charlotte flight to the destination marks a clear recovery and interest in travel from the East coast of the American Union to Puerto Vallarta, an audience that seeks different options beyond the Caribbean – shared Luis Villaseñor, Acting Director of the Promotion and Advertising Trust Tourist of this destination – additionally, it reinforces the presence of American Airlines in the plaza as one of the main seat providers and opens the business window so that more wholesale partners can bring visitors from the Eastern United States to the region – added the executive.

The Puerto Vallarta International Airport will receive 24 percent more operations in the month of December compared to the previous month, with the operation of seven national airlines, six American and four Canadian.

Puerto Vallarta continues to take firm steps in terms of connectivity, by the end of the year it estimates a recovery of 56% of operations in 2020, based on 2019 when 56,526 air frequencies were registered. Regarding passengers, it is expected to have a recovery of 53% with 2.7 million passengers at the end of 2020 compared to the previous year.

The Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico announced this year its expansion plan, which includes a new terminal at the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, in order to meet the demand and growth that the destination and the region are having, this project is part of your Master Development Program 2020-24.
