Javier Jiménez stands as a pillar of the LGBTQ+ community in Puerto Vallarta, seamlessly blending entrepreneurship with activism to foster a more inclusive environment. His significant contributions were honored when he was named Most Influential at the 2024 Best of Gays Awards.
As the owner of the Garbo Group, Jiménez has been instrumental in shaping Puerto Vallarta’s vibrant nightlife and hospitality scene. His portfolio includes renowned establishments such as Garbo Bar, Wet, La Margarita, Mr. Flamingo, and Industry Nightclub. These venues have become central hubs for both locals and tourists, offering safe and welcoming spaces that celebrate diversity.
Beyond his business ventures, Jiménez serves as the president of ACT LGBT AC, Puerto Vallarta’s LGBTQ+ business association. In this role, he has been a driving force behind Vallarta Pride, supporting the event since its inception. His leadership has been pivotal in organizing and promoting Pride events that not only celebrate the LGBTQ+ community but also address critical issues such as health, human rights, and social inclusion.
Jiménez’s influence extends to fostering collaboration between the LGBTQ+ community and local government. In March 2025, he participated in key meetings with Puerto Vallarta’s city officials to secure sponsorship and support for Vallarta Pride 2025. This partnership underscores his commitment to integrating LGBTQ+ initiatives within the broader civic framework, ensuring sustained progress and visibility.
Through his entrepreneurial endeavors and unwavering advocacy, Javier Jiménez continues to shape Puerto Vallarta into a beacon of inclusivity and celebration for the LGBTQ+ community, both locally and internationally.
