Milagro Properties LLC, owner and operator of Casa Cupula, has announced the appointment of Thomas A. Ortenzi as Chief Financial Officer. Ortenzi will lead the company’s financial strategy, including a $3 million private debt offering to refinance and expand the business. Presently, this includes a 19-room boutique hotel, the Pool Club, the Bistro Gallery featuring contemporary Latin American Art, the Gym, and the Spa.
“Tom brings us decades of experience in financial analysis and business management, most recently as a Chief of Staff at Microsoft, where he managed large engineering business units,” said Donald Pickens, Principal of Milagro Properties. “His leadership will be instrumental as we position Casa Cupula for its next phase of growth and innovation.” Tom also led Microsoft’s annual philanthropic Employee Giving Campaign for several years.
Ortenzi joins Milagro with an exceptional background in both corporate and international finance. At Microsoft, he supported executive leadership across several divisions in infrastructure and platform engineering, driving organizational health, operational strategy, and team development. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at leading consulting firms including Navigant, the Analysis Group, and Law & Economics Consulting Group, where he specialized in financial modeling, valuation, and international business expansion. Thomas also brings valuable experience working in similar leadership roles in both Argentina and Spain, where he spearheaded operational growth, managed multi-national teams, and led office expansions that significantly increased profitability and scale.
Milagro Properties’ flagship property, Casa Cupula Puerto Vallarta, was founded in 2002 and has since grown into a global destination for the LGBTQ+ community, recognized for its luxury accommodations, inclusive atmosphere, and deep ties to the Puerto Vallarta community. Among other community organizations it supports, Principal Don Pickens was a founder and is Board President of the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center. “Giving back to our community has always been one of my personal priorities, and for 23 years, Casa Cupula has been a pillar of the LGBT+ community in Puerto Vallarta.”
