The organizing committee of the Vallarta Pride 2026 festival, which took place May 17-24, 2026, in Puerto Vallarta, recently presented a donation of $88,179.75 pesos to the local nonprofit organization Vallarta Gay+ Community Center. The funds were raised from voluntary contributions by attendees at the Block Party held Thursday, May 21, on Lázaro Cárdenas Street.
Pedro López, director of the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center, accepted the check from businessman Javier Jiménez, director of Vallarta Pride. López expressed his enthusiasm and gratitude to both the Vallarta Pride organization and the individuals who contributed out of pocket to support the community center. He explained that the funds will be highly useful for the upcoming expansion of their facilities in the coming months, taking over the space previously occupied by the gay nightlife venue Antropology. This space is equal to the current size of the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center, meaning the association’s users will soon enjoy double the facility space.
Jiménez recognized the extensive work the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center has accomplished for the benefit of Puerto Vallarta’s diverse community just two years since its founding. He acknowledged that it has consolidated itself as a key organization promoting the health and integration of the LGBTIQ+ community in the city. Additionally, he thanked those who gathered at the Block Party, which according to a press release surpassed 40,000 attendees and featured Mexican pop singer Fey, along with other icons such as drag queen Turbulence and singer Jhonny Caz.
Other personalities present at the donation delivery included Carlos Plascencia, director of the Sexual Diversity Department of the Puerto Vallarta City Council, and Alfonso Dávalos, board member of the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center and president of the second Diversity Council.
The Vallarta Gay+ Community Center is located at 101 Morelos, Local 3B, Centro (above the Santander bank) and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.vallartagaycc.com.
