Thousands of people gathered in Puerto Vallarta this week for the 2025 Vallarta Pride parade, an event that city officials and organizers said drew a record crowd.
A press release from the City of Puerto Vallarta says that “estimates indicated more than 30,000 spectators lined the streets Thursday to observe the procession, which has grown to become a significant attraction for LGBTQ+ tourism in Latin America.”
The parade route extended for approximately 3 kilometers (nearly 2 miles), encompassing more than 35 city blocks. Organizers reported the participation of 65 registered companies, 90 distinct contingents, and over 1,900 individuals marching. Event coordinators described the gathering as a landmark occurrence, citing not only its scale but also the direct involvement of the Puerto Vallarta municipal government in its planning and execution for the first time.

The city’s participation included support from Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía. The Tourism Services and Visitor Services Commission, led by Councilwoman Melissa Madero, also contributed to the event’s coordination. Various municipal departments, including Municipal Transit, Public Safety, Civil Protection, and Efficient Services, worked in concert to manage the parade. This coordinated effort aimed to minimize disruption to road traffic and maintain order throughout the event. Officials noted that the parade areas were cleaned following the procession.
The event attracted attention from numerous media organizations, both within Mexico and internationally. Reports from these outlets highlighted the atmosphere of the parade and its focus on inclusion. The week of festivities culminated with a performance by the musical group JNS at a Block Party, which organizers estimated drew an audience of more than 20,000 people.
The organizers of Vallarta Pride and city officials said in the release that “this success reaffirms Puerto Vallarta’s commitment to promoting human rights, inclusive tourism, and the visibility of LGBTQ+ communities, making it clear that the destination’s future is diverse, safe, and inclusive.”
