The city will host an inclusive beach volleyball tournament Feb. 28 at Playa Camarones aimed at promoting community participation and social inclusion through sports.
The Metropolitan Diverse Beach Volleyball Tournament is organized by the Sexual Diversity Subdirectorate of the municipal government led by Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González, in collaboration with the Municipal Sports Council and the City Council’s Sports Commission, chaired by Councilwoman Erika García, along with community groups.
The tournament begins at 8 a.m. and is open to participants from Puerto Vallarta and neighboring Bahía de Banderas. Teams will include youth, people with disabilities, members of Indigenous communities, LGBTQ+ participants and residents from the broader community.
Organizers said the event is designed to strengthen collaboration among government, private organizations and citizens while generating positive, lasting social impact.
VicKo Torres, a member of the municipal Diversity Council, has promoted initiatives that turn inclusion into concrete action, officials said.
City officials said the tournament reaffirms Puerto Vallarta’s commitment to being an open and inclusive destination dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of all people. Residents and visitors are invited to attend the event at Playa Camarones.
