The Puerto Vallarta municipal government announced Thursday, June 15, that it has surpassed 1,000 free animal sterilizations through the efforts of its Animal Welfare Department, led by Citlalit Peña.
According to Peña, the milestone is the result of ongoing sterilization campaigns conducted across different areas of the municipality, helping control dog and cat overpopulation and preventing unwanted litters. Since April, the Mobile Veterinary Unit has visited more than 20 neighborhoods to bring this free service to local families. Among the areas served are Ixtapa, Ecoterra, Tebelchía, and Ramblases.

According to the Mobile Veterinary Unit’s schedule, the clinic will be in the La Floresta neighborhood on Friday, June 26, at the intersection of Obelisco and Nayarit streets. Registration for the sterilizations begins at 8 a.m. For more information about this and future sterilization campaigns, follow the Animal Welfare Department’s Facebook page.
