Puerto Vallarta is set to commemorate its 107th anniversary as a municipality and its 57th year as a city with a vibrant week of cultural, musical, and civic events. The Puerto Vallarta City Council, under the leadership of Luis Munguía, has curated a diverse program inviting locals and visitors alike to celebrate the rich history and dynamic future of this beloved destination.
The festivities will highlight the city’s deep cultural roots and its patriotic spirit. Celebrations kick off on Tuesday, May 27th, and continue through the week, featuring art exhibitions, book presentations, musical performances, and the inauguration of a new cultural heritage center.
“We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the rich culture and heritage of our destination,” stated the Munguía administration, emphasizing the community focus of the events. Highlights include the “Puerto Vallarta desde el Corazón” art exhibition, presentations of historical books, and multiple performances by the talented youth and main orchestras from Utah, USA.
The celebration will culminate on Saturday, May 31st, with a day of grand spectacle and community gathering. The day begins with a solemn flag-raising ceremony, followed by an afternoon and evening filled with music and impressive displays.
A major highlight will be the performance by the V Military Region band accompanied by the Xiutla Ballet, and a breathtaking Armed Forces parade featuring the “Guerreros Águilas” (Eagle Warriors) free-fall parachute team and an aerial show by the renowned “Águilas Aztecas” (Aztec Eagles) Acrobatic Squadron.
The festivities on the Malecón will continue with the traditional cutting of the anniversary cake, followed by an evening of diverse musical performances at the Malecón Lighthouse, leading up to a special surprise headline act to close out the anniversary in style.
