The Puerto Vallarta Municipal Government announced street closures taking effect Sunday, May 31, 2026, in the downtown district, as the city celebrates a dual milestone: its 108th anniversary as a municipality and its 58th as a city.
Municipal authorities announced the traffic restrictions to ensure pedestrian safety and accommodate a slate of anniversary events. Festivities are scheduled to begin around 3 p.m., with dynamic road closures expected to be fully implemented by 5 p.m.
For motorists traveling south, Morelos Street will be closed at the intersection with Corona Street. Drivers will be detoured onto Juárez Street, which will temporarily operate with two-way traffic as far as Agustín Rodríguez Street. From there, motorists can transition back onto Morelos Street to continue toward the Romantic Zone, where traffic is expected to flow normally.
Public transit routes will also adjust beginning at 5 p.m. Northbound buses will truncate their usual routes at the intersection of Perú and Panamá streets, rerouting back north via Colombia Street.
The designated pedestrian-only celebration zone will span Morelos Street from Corona Street to Agustín Rodríguez Street. Local traffic officials urge residents and visitors to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow all posted detours and traffic personnel instructions.
