Located north of Puerto Vallarta, the new infrastructure will help streamline the flow of traffic to and from Bahía de Banderas.
After seven months of construction, Municipal Traffic and Civil Protection and Firefighters authorities opened the new Las Juntas Interchange Bridge on the night of Tuesday, September 30, 2025. It is expected that this infrastructure, located north of Puerto Vallarta, will help streamline vehicular flow to and from the neighboring municipality of Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit.
The bridge is especially important for the many workers who commute daily between the two areas and have experienced significant delays in recent months. The project will also be a major benefit for tourism, as popular destinations like Nuevo Nayarit, Bucerías, Punta Mita, and Sayulita in Nayarit see high volumes of visitors.
Mayor Luis Munguía shared his excitement on social media, stating, “We are making history in Vallarta. Moments ago, the Las Juntas Underpass, a project we have long awaited, was opened, and it will greatly improve vehicle flow. In the coming days, we will complete additional work before holding the official inauguration.”
Drivers have also taken to social media, sharing videos and posts to celebrate the opening.
A formal inauguration ceremony for the new interchange is planned for the coming days.
