Memo Pearls has established a multifaceted career spanning electronic music, digital marketing, and social advocacy. Currently serving as the marketing director for STUDS Bear Bar, Pearls has transitioned from an international background to become a central figure in the local nightlife and creative scenes.

Musical Journey and Style

Memo Pearls’ professional trajectory is rooted in a diverse cultural upbringing. Originally from a family based in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, he spent twenty-five years living in the United States, an experience that shaped his bilingual identity. While his formal education took place in the U.S., his passion for music eventually led him back to Mexico. 

Seeking a productive outlet during the COVID-19 pandemic, he enrolled in the House of DJ school in Monterrey’s San Pedro area. After a year of private practice to refine his technique and build confidence, he relocated to Puerto Vallarta, where he secured a residency at STUDS shortly after its opening.

His musical identity is characterized by a “danceable yet dark” aesthetic. Pearls describes his sound as a blend of moody rhythms integrated into high-energy sets, a style that has earned him recurring bookings at major national events. Notably, 2026 marks his fourth consecutive year performing for Banamex during Pride celebrations in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey. He is also slated to collaborate with Red Bull for an inaugural event in Puerto Vallarta in May 2026.

Digital Marketing and STUDS Studio

In December 2025, Pearls was appointed Marketing Director of STUDS, an evolution of his long-standing relationship with the venue. His professional background in photography and videography, having previously freelanced for global brands such as Ferrari and major festivals like EDC Mexico and Tecate Pal Norte, provided the technical foundation for this role.

Under his leadership, the brand has expanded its digital footprint through several key initiatives:

  • Web Development: He launched a comprehensive website featuring e-commerce capabilities for merchandise available in both Mexico and the U.S.
  • STUDS Studio: He directs this new production arm, which focuses on content creation, entertainment, and the production of two distinct podcasts.

The Door Sessions and Community Growth

Pearls is also an advocate for the electronic music community in Puerto Vallarta. Through his project, The Door Sessions, he utilizes his own production equipment and experience to support emerging artists. By recording high-quality video sets for local DJs, he provides them with the professional portfolios necessary to apply for residencies and club bookings.

“I feel that as a team, we can all achieve more for the Puerto Vallarta scene. My goal is to help others grow so that the entire electronic community expands, giving them the tools they need to showcase their music and open new doors,” he states.

Philanthropy: Toys and Tunes

Beyond the booth and the office, Pearls remains committed to social responsibility. Alongside his colleague Sam “Rukbel”, he organizes “Toys and Tunes,” a benefit concert held at the Act2PV theater. The initiative, timed around Three Kings Day, collects toys, clothing, and essential supplies for local orphanages.

“The idea was born as a way to give back to the Vallarta community by helping those who perhaps don’t have the same opportunities as us,” Pearls explains. “While we are able to go out and enjoy a full life, there are people who don’t have those same benefits. It is simply an achievement to help those children have a better holiday season.”

Toys and tunes

The second edition, held in January 2026, featured a Disney and Pixar-themed concert and successfully raised nearly 100 toys and essential goods. For Pearls, these efforts represent a vital way to support the community that has embraced his professional growth over the past four years.

Despite his rigorous schedule as a director and performer, Pearls finds his balance in the natural beauty of the Pacific coast. When he is not behind the decks or managing marketing campaigns, he can often be found at the beach with his chocolate Labrador, Albi. As he looks toward the future, Pearls remains dedicated to evolving the STUDS brand while continuing to serve as a bridge for new talent, ensuring that the creative pulse of Puerto Vallarta remains as vibrant and inclusive as the community itself.
