The queer rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch returns to The Palm Cabaret and Bar in Zona Romantica for a single performance on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 9 p.m. Following its debut two seasons ago, the production brings the Tony Award-winning musical back to the city’s entertainment circuit.
The musical features Jordon Carnegie in the title role. Carnegie portrays Hedwig, an East German genderqueer singer who survived a failed gender-reassignment surgery required to escape East Berlin. The narrative follows Hedwig’s pursuit of recognition while her former lover and protégé, Tommy Gnosis, achieves stardom using her original music.
The production also features local singer Yoalli Guerrero as Yitzhak. Guerrero returns to the role after two years, noting the character’s focus on themes of self-actualization and personal change:
“Playing Yitzhak I’ve learned to stay true to myself, that I can change and people can change me, but underneath all those stumbles, I always have myself. Through these two years playing Yitzhak, I also had the chance to find my voice and polish my style which I’m super excited to keep exploring with Hedwig!,” she said.
Structured as a rock concert, the performance utilizes a “show-within-a-show” format where the audience functions as the attendees of Hedwig’s concert. The script explores several core themes: self acceptance, forgiveness, transformation and living one’s truth no matter the opinion of others.
Lead actor Jordon Carnegie emphasizes that the production relies on audience engagement, as Hedwig narrates her life story directly to the crowd. The production is a scripted theatrical work with a cult following established by creator John Cameron Mitchell.
For anyone still unclear what to expect, “This show checks all the boxes,” says Jordon Carnegie. “It’s raw, emotional, hilarious, and uplifting all at once. I’m so excited to share it with everyone, again—and if you’ve never seen it, come find out why it has such a cult following. And why people leave feeling changed,” he concluded.
