More than 50 thousand people are expected to attend downtown on February 20, 21 and 22
Puerto Vallarta will be dressed in colors with the second edition of the Puerto Vallarta Carnival that runs from February 20 to 22 and where more than 50 thousand attendees are expected who will be able to enjoy live music, shows and the already famous parade of floats in a family atmosphere.
In a press conference, the director of the Vallarta Institute of Culture (IVC), Guadalupe Basulto, mentioned that this carnival seeks to bring the community together in a festive, celebratory and totally family-friendly atmosphere, which is what the government of Luis Munguía is betting on.
Likewise, Alejandra Cornejo, director of Economic Promotion and Tourism, highlighted that this event has significant potential to attract thousands of visitors and generate a significant economic impact, leaving an economic spillover to restaurants, bars, clubs and other businesses.
To give details of the Carnival, Francisco De Los Santos, general coordinator representing Benito Alemán, president of the carnival, explained that there will be a series of events, starting on Thursday, February 20 with the beauty pageant for the election of the Carnival queen at Los Arcos del Malecón starting at 6 p.m. On Friday, February 21, there will be a beauty pageant for the election of the Gay Carnival queen also at Los Arcos del Malecón at 6 p.m.
And one of the most anticipated events will be the grand parade on Saturday, February 22 with the participation of 30 floats starting at 5 p.m. and departing from the Sheraton, passing through the boardwalk and culminating in the Romantic Zone. There will also be stands throughout the tourist strip and a percentage of the proceeds will go to Animal Welfare. In addition, they will be setting up 7 stages throughout the center with live music and the participation of more than 40 artists.
The main stage will be at the Lighthouse on the boardwalk, where there will be a show for children from 7 to 10 at night and for adults from 10:30 at night to 3 in the morning. Click here for a schedule.
