One person is dead and two people have been injured after a shootout near Lázaro Cárdenas Park in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022 just shortly after 6 p.m.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, who was shot, had allegedly either tried to assault a person or was shooting his gun in the air. Regardless, when uniformed officers arrived, the man fired upon them. The police returned fire, hitting the man. A police officer was shot in the leg and a bystander was also injured. The man died shortly after 9 p.m. at the hospital.
A shooting of this type is highly unusual in this busy tourist area. The area was bustling with tourists in an area that is very popular.
An O&APV employee who was near the site said he heard three shots, and everyone started running and taking cover.
