Puerto Vallarta’s play 2012 “El Mundo se va a Acabar” will be performed at the 28th Jalisco State Theater Exhibition
Puerto Vallarta’s play 2012: El Mundo se va a Acabar, a biodrama production by Dionisio Theater Group, will be presented in Guadalajara, Saturday, September 27, at 6:00 p.m. at the Alarife Martín Casillas Theater.
The story, written and performed by Juan Pablo Hernández, addresses themes like repressed homosexuality, first love, and his relationships with family and friends.
2012: El Mundo se va a Acabar was chosen to represent Puerto Vallarta after its successful participation in the Interior Theater Encounter held in Lagos de Moreno earlier this month, where Juan Pablo Hernández received the Best Actor award. The play is directed by Juan Carlos Ramírez.
A Personal and Moving Journey
In the play, Juan Pablo revisits moments from his own childhood and adolescence in San Vicente, Bahía de Banderas, while confronting the fear of the end of the world. Essentially, the biodrama serves as a metaphor for loss and the life cycles that shape our personal history.
The actor shared how rewarding it was to see the audience’s reaction in Lagos de Moreno and the satisfaction of being able to bring this personal story to the people of Guadalajara.
Grupo Dionisio: History and Recognition
This isn’t the first time the Dionisio Theater Group has been performing at the MET. With 13 years of experience on the stages of Puerto Vallarta, the company has participated with acclaimed projects like La Ley del Ranchero and La Noche de la Guirnalda. The company is known for connecting with the LGBTQ+ community through stories that reflect their experiences and for integrating drag art into some of its productions such as Amigas Desgraciadas.
