Imagine a charming, cozy café reminiscent of La Condesa in Mexico City, or perhaps a place with the edgy, casual look of a New York spot. The new café and restaurant, Uncle Daddy’s, has landed in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romántica, bringing this fresh spirit and a culinary concept the owners define as Comfort Street Food.
The gay-owned establishment is located at Francisco I. Madero 441B, next to Trattoria Di Nuovo, and offers seating both indoors and on its cozy outdoor patio.
The menu features a wide variety of beverages, including classic coffee drinks, cold brews, and frothy, Dalgona-style iced coffees in various flavors. For food, they serve appetizers, burritos, sandwiches, and New York-style gyros, all enhanced with special house-made sauces and seasonings. They also offer both sweet and savory pot pies and seasonal specialties.
Business partners, Karl (from the U.S.) and Óscar Soto (from Mexico), explain that Uncle Daddy’s is currently in its soft opening phase, operating Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with plans to extend hours until 9 p.m. soon.
The story behind the name pays tribute to Karl’s uncle, who was a significant father figure in his life and whom he called “Uncle Daddy.” The delicious offerings on the menu are inspired by many of their family’s treasured recipes.
“Our concept is where soulful comfort food meets street food energy. The magic of our creativity is to deliver nostalgic flavors that have passed down through the years and deliver them in a fast paced energetic way,” Karl explains.
The location previously housed the local restaurant “Algo Bueno” but has been completely renovated for Uncle Daddy’s. The result is an inviting, organic design that features sepia-green tones, a beautiful wooden accent wall, ceramic floors and countertops, industrial metal stools, and a street-side terrace perfect for enjoying food and drinks in the shade of a neighboring tree.
