Patrick Henry Murray, a 58-year-old American, was found dead Friday, Sept. 19, inside his condominium in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta, according to local authorities.
Murray was discovered around 3:25 p.m. in his unit at the D’esire building on Constitución Street after a friend, concerned that Murray had not responded to daily check-ins, entered the apartment and called emergency services, Tribuna de la Bahía reported. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office, investigative police and forensic personnel carried out inspections before transferring the body to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, according to authorities. As of Monday, September 22, 2025, officials have not issued a statement on the cause.
Murray was last seen Thursday night in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone, where friends reconstructed his movements after speaking with business owners in the area. He entered a local bar at about 10:50 p.m.
Around 11:50 p.m., three men entered the establishment, and one approached Murray. The two left together at approximately 12:12 a.m., while the other two men departed minutes later, witnesses told friends.
After images of the three men began to circulate on social media, some individuals have come forward saying that they were victims of a crime where the men are linked to a scheme in which victims are incapacitated with drugs and then robbed.
Local authorities have not confirmed whether Murray’s death is connected to such reports.
