The Encounter
Imagine this: An Out & About gay mixer in December, 2024, becomes the unexpected beginning of our story. While sipping one of Blondies’ famous slushy drinks—Josh with his beloved Brassy Blondie, and Jamie enjoying a glass of wine—he spots Mauricio across the room. But before diving into that moment, we must highlight how Blondies has become our go-to spot over the years. It’s a place where you can share a drink with anyone and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. Not overly fancy, yet beautifully designed, Blondies stands out among the many bars in Puerto Vallarta, thanks to its friendly staff and welcoming vibe. For us, it’s the perfect meeting place to hang out and connect with friends.
Rewind about a year: by chance, Mau and Jamie connected on Facebook, and soon after, Josh followed suit. That mixer was the first time the three of us would meet in person. After the event, we frequently bumped into each other, leading Mau to share a thought we all echoed: “We keep crossing paths for a reason.”
The First Date
After what felt like weeks of conversation (but was actually just days), an invitation for dinner was extended. However, there was a twist—Josh and Jamie were hosting friends from Canada over the holidays, so our first date turned into a dinner for eight at Trattoria Di Nuovo. As proud Canadians, we LOVE Italian food, and there’s no better way to celebrate with lifelong friends than over some of the best homemade pasta in Puerto Vallarta. While we adore many Italian eateries in PV, Trattoria Di Nuovo stands out for its incredible pasta and rich sauces, drawing us back time and again. The Italian courtyard atmosphere, paired with fine wine and delicious food, makes it a favorite to bring others to share a meal.
That evening, Mau chose a chair at the table between the two. Maybe it was the wine, maybe the romantic atmosphere, but an arm went around the shoulders of another and the exchange would continue throughout the meal. There was an undeniable spark that night.
The After Date
You know when you’re out and about and don’t really want the night to end or just end up at the same place or end up home drinking wine? Well It was one of those nights. We had recently heard of a new place in town called “The Social Club”. It was deemed to be a speak-easy type of place that had music, and good drinks. With Diego, our favorite bartender from another local haunt now on the team, we decided to check it out. The atmosphere was hard to describe—funky, cool, and effortlessly charming… it was just perfect. The dimly-lit ambience is wonderful for a date or a fun evening with friends.
Little did we know, we all would fall in love with this new find and that it would play a part in our story as the backdrop for something amazing starting between the three of us.
