Expect road closures and delays
To strengthen the city’s sanitation infrastructure and protect the environment, SEAPAL Vallarta and the Puerto Vallarta government, led by Mayor Luis Munguía, have begun a project to replace a sub-collector and install a new sewer system.
This work is taking place on Aquiles Serdán Street, between Constitución and Camichín, in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. The improvements will help protect the environment and maintain the city’s appeal as a tourist destination.

The project includes the installation of 1,072 linear meters of pipe, part of a 20-inch diameter sub-collector and its parallel 10-inch sewer network, connecting 132 drains for homes and businesses in the area.
The SEAPAL project, which replaces 30-year-old infrastructure, also includes the construction of manholes and curbs with the capacity to withstand heavy traffic. This will allow for greater network efficiency, reducing the risk of wastewater spills during peak periods, and improving the image of the tourist destination.

To minimize inconvenience to residents and businesses, work is being carried out in sections. Currently, progress is being made on the section between Insurgentes and Constitución. In addition to installing the new pipe, the roadway will be restored shortly, and then gradually extend to the rest of the streets included in the project.
There will be intermittent traffic restrictions through Friday, September 12, 2025, at the intersection of Insurgentes and Aquiles Serdán. Therefore, motorists are urged to take precautions and heed Municipal Traffic instructions.
