Sanctuary PV, the newest LGBTQ+ bar and club in Zona Romántica, celebrated its grand opening on Friday, November 14, 2025, drawing a diverse crowd from the local community and visitors.
The launch event was a display of local talent and community spirit featuring a lineup of special performances, including a show by the local drag queen Super Wendy, a striking presentation by the ball house Kiki House of Paradise, and live music from the funk and reggae band The Pleasant Uprising.
Guests socialized while enjoying a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, along with complimentary snacks like chips and guacamole.
A Mission for Diversity and Inclusion
Sanctuary PV is the second venture for Portland bar owners Tammy and Brad McCray, who have brought their simple but powerful mission south: “create a home for everyone under the rainbow.” The establishment is proudly LGBTQ+, sex positive, anti-racism, and celebratory of diversity.
The new bar is located at 239A Venustiano Carranza (above Monzón Brewing Co.), taking over the historically significant space that once housed the oldest gay bar in Puerto Vallarta, Los Amigos.
The venue has undergone a significant transformation, moving far beyond its past life as Los Amigos. Sanctuary PV now boasts a modern and bold aesthetic, with interiors featuring striking neon colors on the floors and furniture.
A highlight of the design is the outdoor terrace. This space, perfect for smoking or simply unwinding, provides a relaxing vibe that truly lives up to the bar’s name. This area also features a stage, which is set to host a regular program of diverse entertainment events.
