Red Buckets are popping up at businesses all over Puerto Vallarta, to raise awareness and funds for the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center.
“When you’re out enjoying a cocktail, dinner, or shopping in the Zona Romántica, you may notice one of our red donation buckets near the register or bar,” explained Matt Karimi, treasurer of the VG+CC. “With just a few pesos—or a generous gift—you help support our numerous community based programs.”
In addition to dropping in some pesos, each bucket also includes a QR code linking to their website and donation platform, making it easy to give by card or make a U.S. tax-deductible contribution.
Some of the programs provided by the VG+CC include:
- Free and low-cost STI testing and treatment
- PrEP & PEP access
- Mental health services
- Educational workshops and peer support groups
- Free weekly English classes for LGBTQ+ adults
- Safe space programming for LGBTQ+ youth and adults
