Government to Recognize Tourism Businesses with the “Distintivo I” for Inclusion and Non-Discrimination
The Puerto Vallarta City Council approved in a council session the initiative presented by Councilwoman Melissa Madero to modify the Tourism Regulations and officially establish the “Distintivo I” in the Government of Puerto Vallarta, a recognition for tourism establishments that promote inclusion and non-discrimination.
The proposal, previously approved by the City Council’s Constitutional Affairs and Regulations, as well as the Tourism Services and Visitor Services committees, contemplates changes to various articles of the regulations that define the “Distintivo I,” establish requirements for obtaining it, and establish incentives for tourism service providers that adopt inclusive policies.
Among the requirements are accredited training in equality and non-discrimination by CONAPRED, commitment to the “Inclusive Tourism” Seal, and progressive compliance with Mexican Standard NMX-R-025-SCFI-2015.
With this approval, Puerto Vallarta is positioned as a more accessible and competitive tourist destination nationally and internationally, aligned with international commitments regarding human rights and inclusive tourism.
