Día de Muertos, one of Mexico’s most cherished and recognized traditions, is nearly here. Starting the last week of October and running through Sunday, November 2nd, several Puerto Vallarta establishments are hosting exciting activities and performances to commemorate the holiday.

Día de Muertos – Traditions of Life and Death at Coco Cabaret
Don’t miss this vibrant tribute to the Mexican celebration! The show features a spectacular mix of folklore, music, dance, and costumes. Performances are scheduled for Saturdays: October 25, and November 1, 8, and 15, all beginning at 5PM. Coco Cabaret is located in the Zona Romántica (Francisco I. Madero 289). Day of the Dead Weekend at Casa Cúpula
The Pool Club at Casa Cúpula is hosting a full weekend of events, including Dinner and Show on October 30, Naked Pool Party on October 31 and November 1, and a Big Gay Drag Brunch and T Dance Pool Party on November 2.
Taco, Mezcal & Tequila Tour at Whiskey Kitchen
Treat yourself to a special Day of the Dead experience on October 31st at 4 PM. This restaurant is offering a special menu that includes six tacos (options like birria, carnitas, fish, and even fried chicken), 6 mezcal/tequila tastings, and 6 cocktails. The full package is just $600 pesos per person. Whiskey Kitchen is located at Francisco Villa 694, La Vena.
Fourth Annual Isla de Los Muertos Festival
Head to the Isla del Río Cuale on Saturday, November 1, from 5 PM to 10 PM for this family-friendly annual festival. Enjoy live entertainment, view impressive Catrinas (elegant skeleton figures) and ofrendas (altars), and grab food, drinks, and face painting. Best of all, proceeds benefit local charities: Vallarta Garden Club and Vallarta Cares.
Special Day of the Dead Event at La Catrina Cantina
The celebrations run all afternoon and night on Sunday, November 2, at this Zona Romántica bar (Lázaro Cárdenas 315B):
- 4:30 PM: Face Painting Activity
- 6 PM: Special Concert featuring Freddy Otello, Jacky López, Alberto Ponce, and Mariachi Alegría.
- 9:30 PM: Catrina Contest
- 10 PM: Open Mic
Altar Exhibition at La Isla Shopping Village
Visit a display of traditional Day of the Dead altars from Thursday, October 30, through Sunday, November 2. The exhibit is open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM at the shopping center (Francisco Medina Ascencio 2479).
Brenda Gaviño Concert at Nacho Daddy
Local artist Brenda Gaviño honors ancestors with a special concert of traditional Mexican songs on Sunday, November 2, at 5 PM. Find the show at Nacho Daddy (Basilio Badillo 287, Zona Romántica). Tickets are available here.
LGBTQ+ Nightlife
The Gusto Lounge (San Salvador 262, 5 de Diciembre): The bar is hosting a Lesbian Night Catrina and Witch Costume Contest on Friday, October 31, from 9 PM to 11 PM. Admission is just $60 pesos (or 2 for $100 pesos).
Banana Factory (Lázaro Cárdenas 341, Zona Romántica): Enjoy a night of Special Day of the Dead Cocktails with no cover on Saturday, November 1, starting at 10 PM.
City-Wide Celebrations
The official schedule for the Day of the Dead Festival, organized by the Puerto Vallarta Municipal Government, is expected soon. The city’s events traditionally include breathtaking displays of altars and giant Catrinas on El Malecón, costume and makeup contests, and activities on the Río Cuale Island and main city plazas.
PVRPV Day of the Dead Display
When you’re Out & About this Día de los Muertos season, make sure to stroll by PVRPV’s office across from Lázaro Cárdenas Park for a truly enchanting sight. Their window display comes alive after dark — a radiant Catrina aglow in soft candlelight, surrounded by vibrant marigolds that shimmer like golden memories. It’s a beautiful nod to tradition, remembrance, and community — the perfect stop on your evening walk through Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romántica.
