The Vallarta Institute of Culture and the Municipal Government of Puerto Vallarta have officially announced the second edition of the annual Day of the Dead festival, “Recuérdame” (Remember Me), set to take place from Friday, October 31, to Monday, November 3, 2025. The vibrant celebration will unfold across the city’s Historic Center and Zona Romántica.
As is now customary, the festivities will begin days earlier with the installation of monumental Catrinas (elegant skeleton figures) crafted by local hotels, which will be exhibited along the Malecón boardwalk. A spectacular Giant Catrina, positioned near the lighthouse, has become a main draw of the celebration, capturing the attention of both residents and visitors alike.

The main city square, Plaza de Armas, and the Municipal Presidency building will once again host a display of traditional Day of the Dead altars (ofrendas). This provides a perfect opportunity for the public to admire one of Mexico’s most colorful and deeply significant customs.
Ricardo Martínez, Director of the Vallarta Institute of Culture, confirmed that both Los Arcos del Malecón and Lázaro Cárdenas Park will feature stages for an artistic program, including live music and dance performances.
Day of the Dead Parade
The highly anticipated Day of the Dead procession will be held on Saturday, November 2, starting at 4:00 p.m. The parade will begin at the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood cemetery and conclude at Los Muertos Pier, where participants and spectators will be able to enjoy fireworks and a surprise theatrical spectacle. The public is strongly encouraged to join the procession, donning Catrina and Catrín attire and makeup.
Dog Walk (Caminata Perruna)
Pets will also play a role in this year’s festival. Authorities invite the community to participate in the “Caminata Perruna” (Dog Walk) on the Malecón on Monday, November 3, at 6:00 p.m. Dog owners are welcome to bring their canine companions for this enjoyable activity.
The complete schedule for the 2025 Annual Day of the Dead Festival “Recuérdame” will soon be made available on the official Facebook pages of the Municipal Government and the Vallarta Institute of Culture.
