Several LGBTQ+ performers opened the pride week festivities on Saturday, May 17, 2025 on the Malecon at the amphitheater where the “arches” are located, celebrating the talents of LGBTQ+ artists.
Hosted by Teto Bentacourt, who is the sexual diversity director for the City of Puerto Vallarta, the performers played to a full amphitheater that included members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as many others. These LGBTQ+ performers included a variety of drag queens and local singers. The performances started immediately after the anti-homophobic march.

Before the event started, several people spoke about the importance of visibility in the community, including Kenya Cuevas, a national LGBTQ+ activist and ambassador for Vallarta Pride; Councilwoman Melissa Madero, Regidora Presidenta Comisión de Servicios turísticos and Teto Bentacourt. This highlights the impact of LGBTQ+ artists on cultural visibility and the fight for equality.
