Non-binary singer Mister Lady Zen will debut their latest production, The Infinite, at Coco Cabaret on Friday, December 19, at 5 p.m. This one-night-only performance marks their 9th season in Puerto Vallarta and is composed entirely of original music rooted in the classic house genre.
The show arrives in town following a significant year for the artist, including a debut at New York’s Lincoln Center in October 2025 as part of the Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Cabaret Convention, performances at the Marin Shakespeare Company Theater in San Francisco, and a series of upcoming sold-out dates in San Miguel de Allende.
“I am very excited to como back to another place that I consider my home. This is my 9th season in PV. I don’t live here but it’s always a place that I come back too,” says Mister Lady Zen.
A Spiritual Return to House Music
The Infinite is described as a soul-driven journey that layers deep grooves and cinematic rhythms. While the set features familiar samples from popular music, the focus remains on Lady Zen’s original compositions. For this performance, Lady Zen is joined by Jared García González and Hamlet Cuellar on bass and drums, with tracks created by Mexican rap artist Mitomano.
“House music has always been a body and spiritual thing. My original music has been more spiritually focused, and right now with the current world situation, it is nice to have things that speak to a more spiritual aspect of ourselves.”
Artistic Evolution and Community
Now in their ninth season in Puerto Vallarta, Lady Zen views the city as a home that has witnessed their growth from a performer into a multifaceted artist. Their life and career were recently captured in the award-winning documentary What’s In A Name, which explores their journey from an orphan in Brazil to a Fulbright Opera Vocal Performance winner and social justice advocate.
For Mister Lady Zen, returning to the local stage is about more than entertainment; it is an effort to elevate the city’s status as a cultural hub.
“It’s about bringing artistry back to PV,” they explain. “Being a gay Mecca in the world, it’s a safe place. We should be saying more… writing new works. We have this beautiful opportunity to be a light in the world.”
The music featured in The Infinite is drawn from Lady Zen’s upcoming album. The artist and their team have stated they are currently working toward a Grammy nomination for the 2027 awards cycle (based on the 2026 release).
Fans can expect a high-energy environment designed to bridge the gap between the spiritual and the physical. “It’s gonna be a dance party,” Lady Zen says. “I am hoping that no one stays in their seats.”
