The Christmas spirit is already flooding the streets of Puerto Vallarta, with decorations being stalled throughout downtown and Zona Romántica.
The Municipal Government, led by Major Luis Munguía, has officially announced the “Sea of Gifts” Grand Christmas Festival, a series of festive activities designed to bring together local families and visitors during the holiday season. The festival will take place from December 18, 2025, to January 1, 2026, in various locations.
“This event is an opportunity for families to gather and enjoy a festive atmosphere full of gifts,” said a spokesperson for the municipal government.
Grand Opening at Los Muertos Pier
The official start of the program is scheduled for December 18 with one of the season’s most anticipated moments: the lighting of the Christmas tree at the iconic Los Muertos Pier.
The opening night will be a complete party, including a performance by a surprise DJ to set the mood. Furthermore, the event will have a strong social component thanks to the collaboration with the DIF System, which will hold a toy collection with the noble goal of bringing joy and gifts to the community’s most vulnerable children.
An Agenda Full of Festivities and Tradition
The festival will span two weeks with a varied agenda that includes:
- Christmas Shows and Musical Carols: Various artistic performances will take place in different parts of the city, keeping the Christmas tradition alive.
- Grand Christmas Festival on the Malecón: On December 31, the celebration will move to the Malecón to ring in the New Year with a major event.

Pastorela “La Noche del Gran Milagro”
Adding a significant cultural landmark to the holiday agenda, the Vallarta Institute of Culture (IVC), supported by Luis Munguía González’s administration, invites the public to enjoy “La Noche del Gran Milagro” (The Night of the Great Miracle). This traditional Mexican Christmas play (pastorela) was written by Maestro Alberto Fabián Sahagún Orozco, a renowned Jaliscan playwright and winner of the 2003 National Pastorela Award.
This year, 2025, the cherished production celebrates its 30th anniversary as one of Puerto Vallarta’s most valued Christmas traditions.
- Dates & Time: Performances will be held daily from December 15 to December 22, at 8:00 p.m.
- Location: The esplanade of the Cuale Cultural Center (Centro Cultural Cuale).
- Admission: Free of charge.
The Institute encourages families to enjoy this stage production, which successfully blends humor, tradition, and the local government’s commitment to making theatre accessible to everyone.
Magical Finale at Palmares Beach
To conclude the celebrations in style, the First Sunset at Palmares Beach will take place on January 1. This event is presented as a unique experience for attendees to enjoy the first sunset of the year in a magical, natural setting.
