With the goal of transforming Three Kings Day (January 6, 2026) into an unforgettable experience, the team at Lulú Pan Francés Café has launched a fundraising campaign to bring the children’s play “Jonás y sus libros voladores” (Jonás and His Flying Books) to the Máximo Cornejo and RISE orphanages during the first week of January 2026.
The initiative aims to provide children living in these homes the opportunity to experience professional theater firsthand. The play tells the inspiring story of Jonás, a young boy who discovers his passion for writing after encountering books that magically come to life. This production follows a highly successful run at the Puerto Vallarta Institute of Culture in late November 2025.
The play is produced by Salvador “Chavo” Rodriguez and Alberto “Beto” Ávila, the couple behind Lulú Pan Francés Café in the Romantic Zone’s Plaza Romy. Known for their commitment to the local arts scene, Salvador and Alberto regularly support Vallarta artists by hosting art workshops and displaying local works within their café. “Chavo” himself stars as “Jonás,” and the cast also features local musician and singer Azul Cadena and actor Chris Montoya, who plays Jonas’ uncle.
“We want the theater experience to be a gift that inspires these children to dream and find their own passions, just as Jonás does in the play,” says Salvador.
The organizers aim to raise $21,850 MXN via GoFundMe to host a special performance at each orphanage. All donations will go directly toward essential project costs, including stage production, scenery transportation, and professional fees for the actors.
