Breast Cancer in Mexico
The urgency of this awareness campaign is underscored by national health data. According to the most recent INEGI (National Institute of Statistics and Geography) data, breast cancer was the leading cause of cancer death among 60-year-old women in Mexico in 2023. Nationally, the country registers over 30,000 new cases each year.
Dr. Claudia Morán, a radiologist specializing in breast health at Hospital Joya, emphasized the importance of prevention and early detection for all women.
“I’d like to see younger faces attending this series of talks,” Dr. Morán said. “It’s crucial to raise awareness about check-ups and early diagnosis, which can completely change the resolution of the illness.”
