For nightlife enthusiasts, Lázaro Cárdenas Street in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone offers a plethora of bars and clubs catering to the LGBTQ+ community and visitors of all genders alike. What begins as a casual evening with pre-drinks at a karaoke bar can easily evolve into a dance-filled night that lasts until dawn.
Nestled within this vibrant block is a bar that, while recently opened, feels like a familiar neighbor. By merging the former Red and Blue Diamond bars and undergoing an extensive renovation to enhance guest comfort, Lalo’s Bar has officially arrived on the scene.
The bar opened approximately six months ago, with the venue featuring a refreshed, inclusive concept under the hashtag #CoolWorld, which is prominently integrated into its rainbow-colored branding.
This premise highlights the bar’s core philosophy: it isn’t just a “gay-friendly” spot, but a safe and fun space for everyone. This is evidenced by the high energy and friendliness of the staff, as well as the eclectic musical selection that keeps the night moving.
In the words of owner and local entrepreneur Eduardo González Camarena—the “Lalo” from whom the bar takes its name: “Every corner of Lalo’s Bar reflects the love and effort I have poured into this dream. I have created a warm and welcoming environment where music and laughter fill the air. Here, every customer is more than a visitor; they are part of our family. I’ve learned that the true essence of a bar isn’t just the drinks, but the human connections formed within it.”
The Karaoke Experience
A signature feature of the bar’s predecessors was the karaoke concept, which became a favorite among visitors and remains a cornerstone of Lalo’s Bar. With multiple screens positioned throughout the establishment, both seasoned singers and amateurs can grab the microphone to indulge their musical tastes, performing everything from alternative rock to the latest pop hits.
The staff isn’t shy about stepping into the spotlight, either. During a recent visit, the Out & About team enjoyed spirited performances by some of the waiters, who helped warm up the crowd before the audience took to the stage.
The Bar
Among the highlights of the drink menu is the Lalo Special, a cocktail that has quickly become a fan favorite. It features a blend of strawberry, raspberry, gin, sparkling mineral water, a dash of lime, and a “secret” touch. Another standout is the Espresso Martini, crafted with vodka, Baileys, Kahlúa, Licor 43, Frangelico, milk, and cinnamon.
The menu is extensive, offering all the staples of a well-stocked bar, including flavored Margaritas, Palomas, and a wide selection of tequilas, vodkas, rums, gins, mezcals, and whiskeys. Classic cocktails like Mojitos, Sangria, and Aperol Spritz are also available.
Guests can also enjoy a Happy Hour on all drinks, available daily from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Unlike many bars in the area that remain “cash only” or require a minimum spend for card transactions, Lalo’s Bar accepts card payments alongside cash. This modern approach aligns with its mission to consolidate its position as one of the zone’s premier destinations.
Eduardo, or “Lalo,” as he prefers to be called, invites both regulars and newcomers to visit and embrace this new concept—a transformation deeply linked to his personal business philosophy and expansion for more capacity:
“Through time and setbacks, I had the opportunity to experience personal growth. Because of that, I understand that life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards. That is why I am renewing my personal brand, and I invite you all to enjoy this place, as it was built with great love, effort, sweat, and gratitude,” he concluded.
