The municipal government has opened a network of collection centers across the city to receive food, hygiene items and other basic supplies for families severely affected by heavy rains and flooding.
“Flooding has damaged homes and disrupted lives,” said Mayor Luis Munguía González. “These centers will help us get essential goods directly into the hands of people who need them most.” He added that “solidarity and swift action” are needed now more than ever.
Collection points are now accepting donations during regular daytime hours at the following locations:
- Vallarta DIF central offices – Paseo de las Palmas, Barrio Santa María
- City Hall Building – Independencia Street No. 123, Centro
- Municipal Administrative Unit (UMA) – Avenida Mezquital No. 604, Los Portales
- Ixtapa Delegation Offices – 188 Independencia Street
- El Pitillal Delegation – 220 5 de Mayo Street
- La Lija Office – 1,000 Pablo Franco Street
The Municipal DIF System is accepting nonperishable foods such as rice, beans, cooking oil, sugar, canned goods, and coffee. Hygiene and personal care items in demand include soap, shampoo, sanitary napkins, diapers, baby formula and baby food.
Mayor Munguía González expressed his gratitude to citizens who have already contributed. “Your generosity shows the true spirit of Vallarta,” he said. “We will continue to monitor the situation and open additional sites if needed to meet growing demand.”
For more information on drop-off hours or to volunteer with distribution efforts, residents may call the Municipal DIF office or visit the City Hall website.
