On March 2, 2026, the Black and White Gala, benefiting the Vallarta School for Girls, will return to Puerto Vallarta for an unforgettable evening of glamour, generosity, and meaningful impact. From 7 to 10 p.m., guests will gather at the breathtaking, oceanfront Sayan Tropical Condominiums for what promises to be the most anticipated charity event of the season.

Inspired by the grand charity galas that first emerged in the late 19th century—elegant affairs created to support schools, hospitals, and cultural institutions—the Black and White Gala continues that timeless tradition. At its heart is a simple yet powerful mission: to raise funds that strengthen the community and change lives through education.

A Spectacular New Stage for a Signature Evening

For the past two years, the gala was graciously hosted at the intimate Villa Tita. As attendance grew and fundraising goals expanded, it became clear that the event had outgrown its original home. This year marks an exciting evolution, with Sayan Tropical donating its spectacular multi-level, beachfront space—allowing the gala to welcome up to 200 guests and fully realize its potential.

“We are pleased to partner with the Vallarta School for Girls,” says Terrell Jordan, Sayan Tropical HOA Board Member. “Our building believes in giving back to the community, and we feel our property is perfectly suited to support an event that directly impacts the lives of the students at the school.”

Event Chairperson Michelle Burnett agrees. “This is the biggest fundraising event of the year for the Vallarta School for Girls, so we have to make the evening truly memorable,” she shares. “As guests arrive, they’ll be welcomed with a glass of champagne just in time to watch the sun set from one of the many levels at Sayan Tropical. I think it’s going to be breathtaking.”

The Heart of the Gala

The elegance of the evening is matched only by the importance of its purpose. According to Francie Nguyen, Founder and Board President of the Vallarta School for Girls, the funds raised at events like the Black and White Gala are vital to the school’s success.

“Our fundraising events are essential to the daily operation of the school,” Francie explains. “From tuition to uniforms, the funds raised make up a significant portion of what allows us to provide these girls with the opportunities they so deeply deserve.”

The impact is already evident. Last year, the school celebrated its first graduating class, with nine young women completing their studies. This year, four more students will graduate. Even more exciting, the opening of a new campus will allow additional girls to enroll, significantly expanding the school’s reach and long-term impact.

The school’s capital campaign to build the new campus is now well underway, moving steadily toward its $500,000 USD goal. In addition to core academics, students benefit from volunteer-led programs in music, photography, and health education, while faculty members continue their own professional development through ongoing education and English-language training.

“Elegance and fun set the tone for the evening,” Michelle explains, “but the mission is clear: to raise funds that empower young women through education at the Vallarta School for Girls.”

The Timeless Tradition of Black and White

Black and White Galas have long been associated with elegance, symbolism, and philanthropy. For more than a century, they’ve been synonymous with remarkable venues, fine dining, live music, dancing, and a lively “see and be seen” atmosphere where fashion ranges from classic formalwear to bold, creative expression.

When it comes to attire, both Francie and Michelle agree on one guiding principle: “Vallarta Chic.”

“Ultimately, we want people to come, be comfortable, and have a wonderful time,” Francie says. “This is Vallarta—but it’s also a chance to have a little fun and show off. Whether you wear black, white, or every color of the rainbow, we want you to buy a ticket, have a night to remember, and wake up the next day already planning to attend next year.”

The black-and-white theme itself carries universal meaning:

  • Simplicity & Elegance – Timeless style in a complicated world
  • Refinement Without Rigidity – Formal, yet effortless and welcoming
  • Balance – A visual reminder of beauty in service of opportunity and hope

An Evening to Remember

The 2026 Black and White Gala brings these traditions to life against the dramatic backdrop of Banderas Bay. Guests will enjoy passed appetizers, a buffet dinner, and a full open bar, along with an atmosphere buzzing with excitement and generosity.

Entertainment has always been a hallmark of the gala, and this year is no exception. Guests can expect the energy turned up a notch with an exceptional silent auction, featuring items such as private concerts and more. And, of course, the dance floor will be calling.

The evening will be hosted by Kevin Anthony, with musical performances by Diego Guerrero + Los Martinis, Kim Kuzma, Effie, Alison Lo, and Kim Archer.

“With the beautiful setting, terrific food, and amazing singers, the Black and White Gala will no doubt be the most talked-about charity event of the year,” Kevin says. “Our goal is to open people’s hearts with our music, in the hope that guests, in return, contribute generously to this extraordinary cause.”
