Brian Justin Crum, the legendary artist whose empowering performances have earned national and international attention, is back in Puerto Vallarta for another incredible season of high-energy music, and unparalleled entertainment.
The emotionally charged new show titled Into You brings Brian’s one-of-a-kind blend of pop spectacle and personal storytelling to fans old and new.
Coco Cabaret premiered Into You on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, at 7 p.m. The new show celebrates love and life with all of its endless possibilities. The performance is jam-packed with new songs, as well as many fan favorites.
“The songs express the love I feel for the life I have created for myself,” Brian shared. As last year was the beginning of some major life changes for him, Brian continued, “I really fell in love with Puerto Vallarta in a different way, and a major part of that was falling in love on the beach in Zona Romantica.”
Special songs, I inquired? Brian let us in on a little secret, “I’m really excited for a very special version of Ariana Grande’s “Into You,” the song that inspired the show, and I’m thrilled to add my spin to it.”
Brian explained one of the most vital aspects of his performance is to ensure a close connection to his audience by creating an environment for everyone to feel included and seen.”
I inquired, “How do you facilitate that special connection you have with your fans?” Contemplating the question, Brian answered thoughtfully, “I tell stories of my life, so many of which are totally universal to everyone,” he continued, “I think being the most authentic version of myself is what has always created that special bond I have with my audience.”
Brian’s songs often highlight issues of vulnerability, acceptance, resilience, and ultimately self empowerment. Newcomers to his performance will notice Brian’s authenticity which has endeared him to his fiercely loyal fan base.
A Brian Justin Crum concert has been described as emotionally exhilarating, flowing not in a straight line, but with highs and lows, with themes of tragedy, rebirth, and triumph, very much like life itself.
Brian celebrates his second year of performing at Coco Cabaret with the opening of Into You. Many readers will recall last year’s dynamic production titled, Dreamer of Dreams, and will be beating a path back to the grand entrance of Coco’s with the debut of Into You.
Initially discovering Puerto Vallarta in 2021, during the heart of the pandemic, Brian shared his deep feelings for his adopted winter home, “there’s nowhere quite like PV, people from the entire world come here for the beauty and energy of this community and it’s truly magical.”
Brian’s journey from theater to television to headliner on the international stage is wildly impressive and the stuff that legends are made of, but what is really show stopping is his personal journey.
Growing up in San Diego California, Brian and his two older sisters were raised by his single Mom, who nurtured Brian’s artistic abilities from the start. He began performing as an after school activity at the tender age of six.
Brian explained, “my mom could have us perform while she worked, so I very quickly caught the buzz for being on stage.”
The first show Brian performed in was a production of Peter Pan.
“I got to fly,” Brian exclaimed, then rhetorically asked, “what kid wouldn’t become obsessed with the applause, the creativity and the make believe, it was everything to me?” When Brian turned fifteen he began performing in the youth theatre in San Diego. Later, he started working at various community theaters, all the while honing his skills and discovering his true self. Amazingly, his professional Broadway career began when he was only eighteen years old, with a breakout performance in Wicked.
His big break came with his wildly popular run on America’s Got Talent, where his commanding performance of Radiohead’s “Creep” wowed audiences around the world. He then went on to headline the America’s Got Talent Presents Superstars Live! show in Las Vegas. His vocals and theatrical presence made him one of the most memorable performers of the season, consistently drawing rave reviews from the judges, and audience alike. The production elevated him to more than a contestant; it helped make him a rising star with a kinetic appeal.
His career skyrocketed, and other Broadway hits followed, including; Grease (Doody), Next to Normal (Standby Gabe and Henry) and the first national tour of The Addams Family (Lucas Bieneke) and Queens, a rock theatrical, which featured, “We Will Rock You,” where Brian performed live with Brian May and Roger Taylor. Some of his most recent appearances have been alongside Cynthia Erivo and Adam Lambert in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl.
With Brian’s answer to my last question, I realized why he has such an unmatched connection to his fans, and they to him.
I asked Brian, “When your show is over and everyone is leaving the theater what do you want the audience to carry with them from the show, from Brian Crum?”
His answer was pure gold, with emotion, Brian shared, “I want people to feel whole, like they have been transported out of their day to day lives and taken on a journey where they have been allowed to feel every one of their emotions, to laugh, and cry, and love.”
