The Vallarta Gay+ Community Center hosted a special appreciation and recognition dinner for its group of volunteers and board members on Friday, December 5, 2025, within its facilities located at Morelos 101, Local 3-B in the Centro neighborhood (above Banco Santander).
Attendees enjoyed a variety of stew tacos (tacos de guisos), drinks courtesy of STUDS Bear Bar, a cake decorated with the community center’s identity colors, and a pleasant musical atmosphere.
Pedro López, the association’s director, explained that the organization has nearly 30 volunteers of all ages who donate time and hard work to the institution’s class and support group program, as well as its HIV and STI prevention activities.
As part of the event, López delivered words of thanks and presented awards to the board members, including Poncho Dávalos and Matt Karimi, and the volunteers:
- Adriana Batista (trans community support group)
- Emma Limón (ballroom community practice)
- Gilbert Rizk, Josué Santiago, and Jesús de la Cruz (yoga sessions)
- Dominique Gómez (vaccination campaigns)
- Zack de la Cerda (English classes)
- Carolina Munguía (Spanish classes)
- Alberto Díaz de León (psychologist)
- Giovani Elias (HIV prevention)
- Eric Lugo (drawing class)
- Álvaro Gerardo Angulo (support in multiple areas)
“I deeply appreciate your commitment and altruism in wanting to contribute to the community in a selfless way. Thanks to you, the community center can offer activities every day from Monday to Saturday,” López mentioned.
During the event, Pedro López also commemorated the first anniversary of the community center making full use of its facilities and thanked the civil association CODISE of Guadalajara, which has provided them with PrEP and PEPtreatments through an agreement.
