Carlos Plascencia, head of the Puerto Vallarta’s Government Sexual Diversity Office, met with Federal Deputy Jaime López Vela, who presides over the National Commission for Sexual Diversity, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, as part of the Deputy’s activity report at the La Postal Park in Mexico City.
The productive discussion centered on three foundational pillars: gender equality, respect for all sexual diversities, and the robust protection of human rights. The leaders agreed that sustained partnership is essential to embed a culture of inclusion and respect throughout the community. “We are focused on serving our residents, and we are grateful for Deputy López Vela’s unwavering commitment to our mission,” said Plascencia.
“We are committed to serving our community and we appreciate the support and commitment of Deputy Jaime López Vela to our cause,” expressed Carlos Plascencia. “We will continue working together for a more inclusive and respectful Puerto Vallarta,” he added.
After taking over the leadership of the Office of Sexual Diversity at the end of October 2025, Plascencia has not only met with government authorities, but also with activists, community members, and the private sector with the goal of forging alliances in favor of LGBTQ+ individuals.
With these type of encounters, the local government pretends to reaffirm its commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion, and creating a more just and equitable environment for all citizens of Puerto Vallarta.
