Puerto Vallarta hosted its third annual Rainbow Race on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, with more more than 1,000 participants.
The event began at 8 a.m. at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Complex after a warm-up session. Runners and walkers aged 18 and older took part in either a 2K or 5K course along Boulevard Francisco Medina Ascencio.
Rainbow Race participants competed in three inclusive categories: female, male and nonbinary. The registration fee was $395 pesos, which covered a runner’s kit featuring a commemorative T-shirt and medal. Kit pickup occurred on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the same sports complex. Local officials — including representatives from the municipal sports council and the city’s sexual diversity office — praised the Rainbow Race as both a celebration and a form of social activism. Proceeds from the event will be donated to a local civil association or social project that supports the LGBTQ+ community, to be selected after the race.
