The Puerto Vallarta community is mourning the loss of Paco Ojeda, a local journalist and prominent member of the LGBTQ+ community, who passed away on Wednesday morning, November 5, 2025, at the age of 63.

Ojeda passed away at his home, located in the La Vena neighborhood, presumably due to natural causes. According to sources close to the communicator, his body was found around 11:00 AM by close associates who went to his apartment after he missed an appointment and failed to respond to multiple attempts at contact.

Following the report of the discovery, emergency services and local police arrived at the scene, confirming the unfortunate event. While initial impressions suggest natural causes, the relevant studies are expected to be carried out in the coming hours to confirm the official cause of death.

The news spread throughout the afternoon, generating a wave of condolence messages across social media from friends, collaborators, and members of the local community. Paco Ojeda was widely known for his work spanning over two decades in the city, serving as a communication bridge for both the local population and the expat and English-speaking visitor community.

Since moving to Puerto Vallarta in 2001, Paco Ojeda established a multifaceted professional career deeply rooted in the city’s social and cultural fabric. Although he originally studied Music Production and Engineering at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, his lasting legacy was primarily developed in the media and marketing fields.

Throughout his career, he served as an editor for Vallarta Lifestyles publication and contributed written content to renowned magazines such as México Desconocido, Gay Entertainment Directory, Escala, Orange Coast, and Vallarta Tribune.

As a marketing strategist, Ojeda lent his talent in services like copywriting, photography, video production, English-Spanish translation, social media management, and event organization for various local businesses, including Hotel Mercurio, Mercurio Swim, Casa Cupula, Los Mercados, and Vallarta Eats Food Tours. He also worked as a freelance photographer for local clients such as Galería Contempo, Perro Bravo, Grupo de Teatro Dionisio, Casa Demae II, Tre Piatti, Villa Verano, and Quinta Maria Cortez.

Since March 31, 2020, Paco dedicated himself to his personal project, Paco Ojeda Coffee and Headlines, a live news and local stories broadcast streamed through his Facebook channel. In addition to his media vocation, Paco continued his work in music education, offering music appreciation talks in English and Spanish at local forums to help the public discover the difference between ordinary and extraordinary music, with monthly presentations held at The Joint. Boutique Hotel and Cowork.

The team at Out & About Magazine PV deeply regrets the loss of the communicator and extends its sincere condolences to all his loved ones and friends.
