A series of meetings between sexual diversity collectives and state and municipal authorities took place in Puerto Vallarta the last week of September, 2025, where commitments were established in the areas of health, culture, and justice for the benefit of the LGBTIQ+ community.

These meetings, promoted by Councilwoman Melissa Madero, were held as part of a tour of activities coordinated between the Government of Puerto Vallarta and the Directorate of Sexual Diversity of the State of Jalisco, led by Mtra. Viviana Arce.

In these spaces, three central commitments were defined and promoted by the Red Diversidad Vallarta network and its member organizations:

  • Ensure dignified access to quality clinical analyses for people living with HIV
  • Promote the declaration of Puerto Vallarta’s LGBTIQ+ Pride as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Jalisco
  • Designate a liaison in the Regional Prosecutor’s Office (Fiscalía Regional) for specialized attention to LGBTIQ+ victims.

Mtra. Arce committed to manage these agreements with the corresponding state agencies.

In a subsequent meeting, Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía and Councilwoman Madero, along with state authorities, reaffirmed their support and collaboration with the Government of Jalisco to continue working on projects in favor of human rights, gender equality, and non-discrimination in Puerto Vallarta.

At the close of the meetings, Councilwoman Melissa Madero stated, “We will continue building together—civil society, organizations, collectives, and institutions—a more inclusive and just Puerto Vallarta for everyone.”
