The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta will transition in May 2026 into the first Westin-branded all-inclusive resort in Mexico, completing a two-year, multimillion-dollar renovation and rebranding as The Westin Playa Vallarta.

The beachfront property, located minutes from downtown Puerto Vallarta and the city’s international airport, is being repositioned to compete in the luxury all-inclusive market. The transformation includes redesigned accommodations, new dining concepts and expanded wellness offerings, while preserving more than 300 palm trees from the resort’s origins as a coconut plantation.

Until the official rebrand on May 1, 2026, the hotel continues to operate as the Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta. Guests visiting before April 23, 2026, can book stays and enjoy the current facilities, including recently renovated rooms and the property’s traditional services.

After the transition, the resort will feature 281 all-suite accommodations, some with private sky pools, swim-up access or plunge pools. The redesign emphasizes natural light and tropical surroundings under a “breathe nature in” philosophy.

Dining will center on the new Gourmet Gallery, a collection of six venues and four outdoor outlets scheduled to debut in phases through 2025. Highlights include Agave Studio, offering mezcal tastings; Tanto, a Japanese dining experience; and Rosa Madalena, an ice cream parlor with vegan and sugar-free selections. Other concepts will feature Vallarta-style tacos, gourmet burgers and a farm-to-table restaurant.

The resort’s Heavenly Spa will be expanded, and wellness programming will range from yoga and in-water spin classes to holistic fitness sessions. New entertainment programs, multiple pools, and courts for tennis, pickleball and padel will also be available.

The property will remain LGBTQ-friendly and pet-friendly, with adults-only areas designed for couples and romance travelers.

Black Creek Mexico’s lodging investment platform acquired the property from Marriott Vacations Worldwide and is overseeing the repositioning.

“We look forward to substantially enhancing the guest experience and managing the property to maximize value,” Oriol Gimenez of BCM said.
