Looking for a new adventure in Puerto Vallarta? Whether you are a local or a visitor, Rainbow Ride PV is a “new” upcoming must-do adventure all set in a double decker bus that includes an open bar.
Myself and my two partners (Josh and Mau, who make up ´Tasting Life as Three´), had the pleasure of hopping on the maiden voyage of the Rainbow Ride PV city tour. Starting at Mr. Flamingos for registration and a welcome drink, it set the tone for an unforgettable evening. As we rolled through the Zona Romantica and into the gorgeous historic Centro district, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Imagine the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, all aglow in her magical crown, while touring in an open-air double-decker bus.
Our first stop was “Che Vallarta”, where we were greeted with house-made sangria and to-die-for Argentinian Empanadas. An added bonus? A chance for a few brave souls to take the stage and sing karaoke! Just before boarding the bus again, we made a quick pit stop at “La Michoacana” for a to-go whipped mango treat. Bonus! When we boarded the bus, the Rainbow Ride PV team generously topped it with tequila.
Onwards to the neighborhood of Versalles via the Hotel Zone, our first stop was “El Rey BBQ”. This local hotspot served up BBQ style meat formed into freshly made tacos—a divine pleasure for the palate! While sipping on cosmopolitans and margaritas, we were presented with a special welcome gift to take with us. Their welcoming and cozy atmosphere coupled with outstanding service gave them the three thumbs up from us. We will be back! And if you haven’t been, add this to the list of must-try places in PV.
Next, we ventured to “The Office PV.” Don’t let the name fool you; this is far from the fresh smell of the photocopier and the boss looking over your shoulder. At The Office, you are the boss! You set your schedule and choose your drinks. The quirky, fun, and charming decor, combined with fantastic hospitality, makes it a go-to spot, and now we know why. It’s a place where laughter and joy fill the air, and the cocktails flow freely.
And just when we thought the night couldn’t get any better, we learned from our Tour Guide, Roberto Maciel, that the Rainbow Ride PV aims to create an inclusive atmosphere for everyone, regardless of their backgrounds. With a commitment to celebrating LGBTQ+ culture, the tour welcomes all who wish to join the fun, making it a truly special experience.

Q: Mr. Flamingos will always be the meeting location?
A: “At the moment, this is our meeting point, but we might change to different locations along the road,” Christian explained, hinting at the flexibility of the tour.
For those wondering how often these tours will run, the answer is simple:
“We will be providing this new service every Thursday, so once a week.” It’s a perfect midweek escape for locals and tourists alike.
As for the experience itself, the Rainbow Ride PV is all-inclusive.
“There’s an open bar inside the bus all night long,” Serrano assured us. “Throughout the tour, we visit five venues, and everyone gets a welcome drink. Two of the venues serve food, so we’ll get to taste a sample of their menus. It’s a feast for the senses, and you’ll want to come thirsty and a touch hungry!” said Christian.
The entire experience lasts about four hours, giving guests plenty of time to explore, taste, and enjoy the vibrant nightlife of Puerto Vallarta. As we wrapped up our tour, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie with our fellow travelers, united by laughter, music, and delicious food.
As we reflect on the night, I know the three of us, Tasting Life as Three, will be back! The Rainbow Ride PV isn’t just a tour; it’s an adventure filled with flavors, fun, and memories waiting to be made.
