A chance to win prizes awaits participants at the upcoming Duckathon, where each rubber duck chosen from the pool holds a number corresponding to a specific prize. For 100 pesos per duck, attendees can select a duck and immediately see if they’ve won one of the many items donated by local businesses. The reveal of the number beneath each duck adds an element of anticipation to the game, all while supporting the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center (VG+CC).
The Duckathon: Float for a Cause, takes place Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Casa Cupula Pool Club. The evening will feature live music performances and drag acts, creating a celebratory atmosphere. Guests can also explore a vendor fair showcasing local businesses and enjoy complimentary food tastings and cocktails. Entry to the event is $400 pesos per person, with a discounted rate of $200 pesos for Mexican citizens with a valid INE card. 100% of the entrance fee goes directly to supporting VG+CC’s vital services. The event runs from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Casa Cupula Pool Club, Callejon de la Igualdad 129, Amapas.
Prizes have been contributed by local establishments, including well-known names such as Daiquiri Dicks, Studs Bar, Flamingo Bar, Industry, Cantina Margarita, Corner Bar, Jardín Cafe, Blondies, The Wellness Room, Club Jets, Tunnel Bar, Gastronomic, Café des Artistes, River Café, Burning Burrito, Zumo, Seasons PV, Kenta Japanese, Taco Revolution, La Romántica, Tropicana, and others. Each donated prize adds to the excitement of the Duckathon game, with every participant having a chance to win.
Funds raised from the Duckathon directly support the VG+CC’s programs, which are vital for the well-being of the local LGBTQ+ community. These initiatives include HIV/STI prevention, mental health care, youth support, and community education. The center’s work addresses critical needs, providing resources and services that directly impact individuals in Vallarta.
Lead sponsors for the event include Vallarta Medical Center, Poncho Davalos Realty, ReMax Realty, and Tropicasa Realty, alongside numerous other local businesses demonstrating their commitment to the cause. Organizers state the event aims to provide a gathering for the community, offering entertainment and a chance to win, all while generating needed funds for the VG+CC’s ongoing operations and services.
