As part of the largest parade in the history of Vallarta Pride, Councilwoman Melissa Marlene Madero Plascencia was honored with the “LGBTQ+ Ally of the Year” award in recognition of her commitment to human rights and her key role in consolidating the festival as a platform for inclusion, diversity, and development during its 2025 edition.
The award was presented by Javier Jiménez, president of Vallarta Pride, entrepreneur, and founder of the festival in Puerto Vallarta, during the iconic Block Party following the Pride Parade, which covered more than 3 kilometers and gathered over 30,000 attendees.
The Organizing Committee highlighted Madero’s work as president of the Commission for Tourism Services and Visitor Attention, as well as her institutional support and leadership in promoting public policies in favor of the LGBTQ+ community.
The official recognition read: “Thank you for being an ally, a bridge, and a strong voice in building a more just, free, and inclusive Puerto Vallarta for everyone.”
Madero has played a key role in the collaboration between the municipal government and the Vallarta Pride 2025 organization—marking the first time the City Council has actively participated in the festival. The event was also praised for being safe, orderly, and free of traffic disruptions, with a clean city and no incidents following the large-scale celebrations.
